Love Knots from Kenya

There is an area in Kenya, East Africa, known as Kissi and this is where the famous Kissi stone is found. It is a form of Soap stone in a lighter color than the more common soapstone as found in Zimbabwe & South Africa. It is referred to as Kissi Stone. Amongst one of the many unusual pieces created by the skilled carvers, is a piece to which they gave the name of "Love Knot". It is an intriguing work of art, carved out of 1 single piece of Soap stone and is mostly left in the natural color of the Kissi stone, being an off white, with natural inclusions. The smaller Love knot on the right in the photo is 4" tall and has been dyed (black). A very popluar and unique gift for engagements, weddings or anniversaries.
